What Is a Prescription IV Infusion?

A prescription IV infusion is medicine your doctor orders for a diagnosed condition, given through an IV line at our clinic. It is not a vitamin drip.

A prescription is necessary for Iron, Pediatric Iron, Zoledronic, and Migraine Infusions. Iron infusions treat low iron, zoledronic acid supports bone strength, and migraine infusions use the same medications given in the ER.

Your physician or nurse practitioner can fax us the prescription. Forms are on our referral page. There is an administration fee, currently $115, and it does not include the cost of the medication. Most health care benefit plans cover the medication, and we can help you get insurance approval.

All prescription IV medication infusions take longer than 30 minutes. Please be prepared to be here for longer than 45 minutes, up to 2 hours.

Solis offers Iron, Pediatric Iron, Zoledronic, and Migraine Infusions.

Iron Infusions

Solis offers intravenous iron therapy to help restore iron levels and alleviate the symptoms of iron deficiency and iron-deficiency anemia. Treatments use Venofer, Monoferric, and Ferinject.

Pediatric Iron Infusion

A pediatric iron infusion delivers iron into a child's vein when iron drops or tablets have not worked or cannot be taken. Solis accepts children ages 5 and up.

Zoledronic Acid Infusion

Zoledronic acid infusion is a prescription treatment that helps slow bone loss. It is often ordered for osteoporosis and other selected bone conditions.

Migraine IV Therapy

The IV migraine medications are the same medications given in the ER: normal saline, Ketorolac, anti-nausea medications, Decadron, and magnesium.

What to plan for on the day of your appointment.

  • Appointment length: Plan for more than 45 minutes, up to 2 hours.
  • Booking: The clinic contacts patients within 24 to 48 hours. Next-day appointments are available depending on insurance approval.
  • Comfort: Comfortable infusion chairs, free Wi-Fi, light snacks and beverages, and free parking are available.
  • Follow-up: Solis will call you the next day and fax forms to your doctor.
