What is Group Psychotherapy

Group psychotherapy, also called group therapy, involves one or more therapists working with a small group of clients simultaneously to provide psychological support, teach coping strategies, and foster personal growth.  The trained therapist guides a small group of individuals to address personal, emotional, or behavioral challenges collectively.

Groups typically consist of 3 to 8 members and meet for 60 to 120 minutes weekly, either in-person or online. Unlike support groups, group therapy is professionally led and focuses on both symptom relief and long-term behavioral or emotional change.

Participation and Consideration

Members are encouraged to actively participate, share experiences, and provide feedback to others.

The therapist ensures the group is a safe, structured, and supportive environment.
